Block Fill

STRENGTH AND STABILITYIN EVERY POUR

Quality-Crete's Block Fill Concrete is engineered to reinforce the core of concrete blocks, improving both structural integrity and thermal performance. Whether you're building commercial walls, retaining structures, or residential foundations, our on-site mixed concrete ensures every block is filled perfectly fresh, consistent, and built to last.

BLOCK FILL BENEFITS

Designed to increase strength, durability, and long term performance in reinforced masonry walls.

  • Enhanced Strength: Properly filled block cores increase load bearing capacity and overall wall strength.

  • Improved Impact Resistance: Solid-filled block walls provide greater resistance to impact and demanding conditions.

  • Improved Fire Resistance: Filled masonry walls can improve fire performance when designed and constructed as part of an approved wall assembly.

  • Greater Structural Stability: Filled cores strengthen reinforced masonry walls and improve long-term durability.

VOLUMETRIC ADVANTAGES

Our volumetric mixers produce fresh block fill on demand, providing consistent workability, precise quantities, and reliable performance from the first block to the last.

  • Fresh concrete throughout the pour.
  • Consistent workability from start to finish.
  • Flexible mix designs for project requirements.
  • Exact quantities with less waste.
  • Better control over slump.
  • Minimize crew downtime.

FAQ

Block fill is a highly flowable concrete specifically designed to fill the cores of concrete masonry units (CMU). Once placed, it surrounds reinforcing steel and bonds the wall together, creating a stronger structural system. Unlike conventional concrete, block fill must flow easily through narrow block cores while minimizing segregation. At Quality-Crete, block fill is produced fresh on-site using volumetric technology. Because the concrete is mixed only when it is discharged, contractors receive a consistent, workable product instead of concrete that may have been sitting in a drum for an extended period. This improves placement, reduces waste, and provides greater flexibility if quantities change during construction. Every project is different. Our team can produce engineer-specified mix designs and adjust admixtures when required to meet project performance requirements.

Fresh concrete provides more consistent workability throughout the placement process. Traditional ready-mix begins hydrating as soon as water contacts the cement. With volumetric production, the ingredients remain separate until the concrete is produced at the jobsite. This means crews receive concrete with consistent slump, improved finishability, and the ability to continue producing concrete as long as materials remain on the truck. Customers also pay only for the quantity actually produced, helping eliminate unnecessary waste.

Yes. We routinely work with contractors, engineers, and project owners to produce custom mix designs that satisfy project specifications. Fiber reinforcement, specialty admixtures, and other performance characteristics can be incorporated where appropriate. Our quality program includes calibration, operator training, testing, and documentation designed to deliver consistent results from the first yard to the last.

Because the concrete is mixed fresh on-site, workability remains consistent throughout the placement. Contractors receive only the quantity needed, reducing waste and improving scheduling flexibility.

Most projects use strengths specified by the engineer, commonly between 2,000 and 3,000 PSI, although custom designs can be produced.
